After School Special

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The creative machine of Heather and DB has produced a fun new dessert; house made marshmallows, chocolate chip cookies and rice krispy treats with a glass of milk and melted chocolate for dipping. Serves two and keeps you out of trouble until your parents get home.

Farmers Market

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Â
The subject of a Farmers Market has been debated in Spokane for years. Here are some recent opinions: SpokesmanReview, The Back Kitchen, Metro Spokane. I would like to place my nomination for locating our Farmers Market in Riverfront Park. It is time to add life and daily gathering in our town’s central green space. This enhancement would increase walking traffic and safety to our beautiful park. It could start small and expand as needs increase. Sure, there would be costs and criticism but the vision, just like Expo 74, would be well worth the effort and all obstacles would be overcome if we could agree and focus on a single endeavor….just a thought.

Live Music Wednesday

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Tonight is Live Music Wednesday featuring Dave and his amazing singing dog, Ivan. Heather and Bob will be there too - 6:30 to 9 pm.

Mini Coopalooza

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Yesterday morning we were just opening for lunch when an army of Mini Coopers descended upon our parking lot. This small but mighty club meets regularly to convoy around the area. I think their destination was LaCrosse (below) where they planned to take over the city with their cuteness. Thanks for the pictures Dave.

Favorite Wine Sites

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

For those interested in researching wine, here are some of my favorite wine sites….

The Pour - NY Times wine enthusiast, Eric Asimov’ blog.

Winecentric - a no-nonsense review blog with tasting notes.

Decanter.com - great variety for resource.

Wine Spectator - when you simply must see the ratings.

Dr. Vino - Dr.Tyler Coleman’s well educated musings.

Matching Food & Wine - stumped about what wine to pair with your food?

Vino! A Wine Shop - of course our favorite local retailers, John, Jen & Nancy.

Have fun! Oh yeah, don’t forget, we have 1/2 off all our bottles on Monday nights.

Live Music Tonight

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Aaron Richner is playing live tonight 6:30 - 9. Currently he is working on a new album. You can hear some of his new tunes on MySpace and find out where he will be playing with a full band. Hopefully he will play some unplugged versions tonight.

The First

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

The longer days of spring feel so good this year. I think this winter was unusually gray in Spokane. The daffodils are up, fresh pea sprouts, lettuce, radishes, asparagus have all started appearing, bicyclists and runners are busy, and our town seems poised for prosperity. It is a season to celebrate healthy freshness.

Monday Wine Night

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Just a reminder…Grant has located a plethora of pallet pleasing vino for you to try this Monday, oh yeah, and all bottles are 1/2 off. For tonight my recommendation would be the new Sagelands Merlot with duck breast.

Gardens of eatin’

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Chef David Blaine made the press again in an April/May 2007 Inland NW Homes & Lifestyles magazine article. It’s nice to see the press catching on to the local fresh trends that are happening in Spokane. We are proud of the origins of the foods we serve and we know our guests can tell the difference. Can’t wait to see the unique ingredients that DB will be growing this year. Here comes the fresh produce!
