LB wine glass

After recently being asked if we had etched Latah Bistro wine glasses for sale, I had to explain that the picture on our web site is the fictitious creation of our ingenious web designer, Gabe Burdett.

Live music Wednesday

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Live music every Wednesday night 6:30-9PM. We send out emails to let you know who’s playing. This week it will be Dave, Heather and Bob. We are called Kalliope. If you want to be informed via email just go to the Latah Bistro web site and sign up.

This is me and my dog, Ivan. We are jammin outside Elkins Resort up at Priest Lake last summer. He’s a pretty good singer when he’s off the drugs.

Latah Partners

Monday, November 20th, 2006

The Latah Partners are just about ready to launch their web site and VIP card. This will give Spokane shoppers special deals when they frequent the businesses in the Latah Valley. So far we are 15 businesses strong. Sounds like a winner. We will surely be providing rewards to those who use this card at our Bistro. Stay tuned.

Donations

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

One of the biggest unforseens in our restaurant experience has to be the barrage of charity requests we receive and the time necessary to politely refuse or accept those requests. In the last two years we have given gift certificates, time, food and money to a plethora of organizations. So many of our regular guests are involved with charity that it is hard not to give to every request. Some people are gracious and polite with their requests and others are downright ugly, using extortion to try to motivate us to give. The backlash from a recent refusal has actually resulted in an attempt to damage our customer base because someone was disappointed that we would not give. This audacious behavior has surprised us to say the least. This year we decided to be more discriminating and created guidelines to exclude political causes in order to avoid the potential of alienating guests. For those of you that use professional courtesy and grace, thank you for your manners. For those using less tact, remember it is our right to choose not an obligation. Please do not try to hurt our business if we refuse your requests. We are here to raise the value of our community and will continue provide donations. We would like to remain a place where folks of differing opinions can co-exist, relax and enjoy good food and fellowship. nuf said.

Party Season

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

The SSYP two year anniversary party was a great success. It is rare for us to dedicate the restaurant for an evening with such a specific function but this group was well worth it. Big kudos to DB and Leon for their amazing delivery of tasty morsels, to Michael for the well thought out prep to create flawless service, and to Heather for her talent with design. SSYP, please visit us again next year. We had a great time.

Cookbook update

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Another favorite cookbook. Avoca began as a restaurant in Dublin and has since expanded to 7 locations in Ireland and 2 locations in North America. A real bistro vibe with eclectic mixed with comfort.
